Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with helping refugees.

You can help by donating your time and expertise to DARA through volunteering — there is so much you can do as a volunteer to make a positive impact on the lives of refugees today!

You can stay involved by following DARA on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Become a DARA volunteer

You must be 18 or older to volunteer.

Volunteers are the backbone of any nonprofit, and DARA welcomes those of all abilities. Whether you can help out weekly or occasionally, in person or from home, opportunities are available in both behind-the-scenes and hands-on areas. If you would like to Volunteer for DARA, please complete our

Volunteer Application (currently closed for our revamp — check back soon!).

How it works

Once we receive your application, we'll contact your references. Please remind them to watch for an email from @daract.org, and to provide their reference right away so that we can move on to the next step.

After your references reply, we'll schedule an interview with you, request a simple background check, and will provide you with training.

Once those requirements are completed, you'll receive an invitation to DARA's home on Slack to join the rest of our volunteers in welcoming a refugee family to our community.

Thank you for your willingness to help DARA assist refugees!

DARA always needs volunteer drivers, and driver's ed helpers!

If you can volunteer to drive, the Transportation Team is where our need is often the greatest.

Please view the slideshow below that explains volunteer responsibilities in more detail.
